This simple bagel recipe requires only five ingredients and can be made in the oven or air fryer. High in protein due to the Greek yogurt, these bagels are soft in the center and a delight fresh from the oven.

  • Main Ingredients
  • Unbleached all-purpose flour1 cup (5 oz in weight)
  • Baking powder2 teaspoons
  • Kosher salt3/4 teaspoons
  • Non-fat Greek yogurt1 cup
  • Egg white or whole egg1, beaten
  • Optional toppings: Everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic flakes, dried onion flakes
  1. Oven Method
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt, whisking well.
  4. Add the yogurt and mix with a fork until well combined.
  5. Lightly dust a work surface with flour, knead the dough a few times until it becomes tacky but not sticky.
  6. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, roll each piece into ropes and form bagels.
  7. Brush bagels with egg wash and sprinkle with desired seasoning.
  8. Place bagels on the top rack and bake for 25 minutes, allowing them to cool 15 minutes before cutting.
  9. Air Fryer Method
  10. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and whisk well.
  11. Mix in yogurt until well combined.
  12. Knead dough on a floured surface until tacky, divide into portions, and shape into bagels.
  13. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with seasoning, and preheat air fryer to 280°F.
  14. Bake bagels in batches for 15 to 16 minutes until golden, allowing at least 15 minutes to cool before cutting.
